In many warehouses, the pallet-wrapping process still depends on the operator’s experience. Each employee has their own pace, technique and assessment of how much film is needed. The result? Two identical pallets can leave the same warehouse with completely different levels of protection.
The problem is not a lack of employee commitment. The problem is that the process does not produce the same result every time.
As we explained in the previous article, the actual cost of inadequate wrapping is not the price of stretch film, but complaints, reshipment costs, damaged goods and, sometimes, the loss of an important customer.
In logistics and production, predictability is one of the most important resources. A standardized process means that every pallet is wrapped using the same parameters, regardless of who operates the equipment or which shift is working.
Benefits:
• the same tension applied to the film;
• the same load coverage;
• controlled film consumption;
• consistent stability during transport;
• reproducible results.
Automatic equipment uses controlled film pre-stretching and applies exactly the amount required for each cycle. The result is lower stretch-film consumption while maintaining a high level of load stability.
The new European requirements concerning packaging and packaging waste (PPWR) emphasize the efficient use of materials and control of packaging processes. Standardization contributes both to operational efficiency and compliance.
Automation becomes worthwhile when you ship a consistent number of pallets every day, receive complaints caused by load shifting, see differences in film consumption between shifts or want to standardize the process.
At INATECH, we do not automatically recommend a piece of equipment. We analyze pallet volumes, product types, current film consumption and transport incidents. Depending on the results, the solution may be process optimization or the implementation of a pallet-wrapping machine.
At INATECH, we do not sell film by the roll. We start with the right question — what containment force do you need and how can you achieve it consistently — and build the solution around it: the right film, the right equipment and a reproducible process. As a complete packaging provider and a member of the European PackSynergy network, we bring the experience of hundreds of operations similar to yours into the discussion.
Sometimes the solution is a pallet-wrapping machine such as E-Wrap 1000A, which eliminates variability and optimizes film consumption. At other times, it is simply a change of film or parameters. The difference lies in the correct diagnosis, not in forcing a product into the sale.
